Not sure what to do with your digital wallet? Fret not, for Ducatus Cafe is now accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment for our everyday consumer products.
Being the first cashless food establishment in Singapore, Ducatus Cafe aims to promote the crypto community by introducing digital coins as a means of exchange in our everyday lives.
Sheilah Manalo, the Corporate Communications Manager, explained the Ducatus mission, “We have our own coin, and we want people to accept our coin as a form of currency as well. There are always negative connotations associated with crypto. We want to challenge such mindsets.”
“Crypto is a wonderful thing. We want to educate people and disseminate information to them. It isn’t just about helping ourselves, but helping the entire crypto community to nurture.”
“The common misconception about the crypto community is that all we care about is money. They think everyone is all about the ‘buy low, sell high’ mentality,” Manalo explained.
People are typically carried away by this form of thinking – that cryptocurrency is just an investment platform. However, it holds the potential to become a new powerful method of exchanging and trading, a new form of financial exchange.
Ducatus Cafe is committed to providing a platform for people to gather and master the intricacies of the digital currency market. On the last Saturday of every month, the cafe holds a talk and invites everyone to join the event for free. For the month of May, Block Asia was honoured to be invited as a guest speaker for Ducatus’ event. The talk starred Digital Marketing Manager of Block Asia Ken Chua, whom discussed the different forms and risks of cryptocurrency scams.
In a bid to educate more people about cryptocurrencies, Manalo also added,
“Everyone has a job to do. Whether you’re an ordinary investor or a corporation, it is everyone’s duty to help one another. By promoting digital currencies as a means of exchange, we hope to legitimise them as a form of transaction one day. While there is competition in the industry, I don’t think it is between the coins. The challenge is to convince consumers to accept cryptocurrency and the digital economy.”
While it is truly admirable to venture towards shaping mindsets, Block Asia was curious about how the cafe perceives the high price volatility of cryptocurrencies and how it could potentially affect the establishment.
In response, Manalo joked, “Well, for one thing, we have great coffee.”
According to her, the cafe provides them with an advantageous edge. The cafe sells consumer products, where they are deemed as necessities. That in itself plays a part in people’s lives. Also, they also accept all forms of payment transactions as long as they are cashless. “I think it helps that our currency is pretty stable,” she added.
Currently, Ducatus owns cafe branches in Singapore and Bali, with plans to expand to Europe. It also intends to venture into various sectors by owning health and property businesses, the latter currently in development.
The Ducatus logo presents the image of a lion with interconnecting dots and lines within its mane. This symbolises the peer to peer nature of their business and that through connections, Ducatus can empower people to decide on the financial life that they deserve.
Ducatus Cafe accepts cryptocurrencies such as Ducatus (you get 15% off), Odyssey, Bitcoin, Ethereum and more.
