Steve D’Antuono, head of financial crime at FBI, said that types of digital currency crime include ICO fraud, extortion, virtual kidnapping, dark net trading, drug payments and cybercrime. In September 2017, the US government earned more than $48 million by selling seized bitcoins. In May 2018, the FBI seized $60 million worth of Ethereum. He went on to say that the FBI found that the number of digital currency crimes had risen. Criminals still prefer cash compared to digital currencies.
