Thailand’s main cryptocurrency regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC), disclosed the number of companies applying to run an initial token issuing (ICO) portal in the country. According to reports, Ms. Praopon Senanarong, Assistant Secretary of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand, said that regulators are reviewing six applications for the ICO portal and are expected to be approved in the fourth quarter of this year. In addition, there are 12 portals that are interested, but have not yet formally applied for a license. It is understood that the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand will set up a committee composed of ICO experts and SEC representatives in September to oversee the ICOs and ICO portals.
